DaVinci Institute Guest Speaker Steve Meyer

filed under: Press Releases — Pedicab @ 11:49 pm August 20th, 2007

Past Speaker: Startup Junkie Underground

SPEAKER: Steve Meyer – Founder and CEO Mainstreet Pedicab
DATE: August 20 & 22, 2007
TOPIC: Peddling Your Way to Success – The Mainstreet Pedicab Story

Pedicabs are human-powered taxis seen in many of the major cities around the world. They work well for not only transporting people, but also for the delivery of food and merchandise.

In a world that is becoming overwhelmed with too many cars, pedicabs offer a green and sometimes romantic alternative. While they work best over short distances ranging from 2 to 10 blocks, they are fully capable of traversing much greater distances.

Steve Meyer didn’t invent the pedicab, but he is in the process of perfecting the marketplace for it. With multiple income streams and a loyal following, the pedicab industry is breaking into new territory.

Here is what it took for Steve Meyer to become one of the leading figures in the pedicab industry, and how Donald Trump had a hand in his success.

Speaker: Steve Meyer is the Founder and CEO of Mainstreet Pedicab in Broomfield and has worked most of his professional life self-employed, interspersed with periods of employment.

He attended the University of Colorado from 1972 trough 1979 getting both a BA in Environmental Biology and an MA in Economics. He spent more than a year of this time traveling in S. America, Asia, Europe and Africa.

For many years, Meyer worked in the real estate industry doing economic and market research for real estate developers. His interest in the redevelopment of downtown areas and his experiences in Asia were key factors in his development of Main Street Pedicabs. Main Street was founded in 1992 and is the largest manufacturer of this type of vehicle in N. America.

Please thank all the riders, they were amazing. And tell them that you guys were the most reliable, professional and fun mode of transportation we used all weekend. Pedicabs on The Biggest Looser

filed under: Press Releases — Pedicab @ 10:06 pm November 8th, 2005

Main Street Pedicabs is featured on NBC’s hit weight loss show, The Biggest Loser. Contestants used their pedicabs to pass the weekly weight loss challenges. Main Street Pedcabs helped them succeed! For the challenge, everyone had to pedal a pedicab up the steep ranch driveway. The person who finished first would win immunity for his or her duo. Everyone got on their pedicabs, with their family member in tow. Weight was added when necessary so that everyone was “pulling their own weight” up the hill. Matt and Seth were out in front quickly and maintained their lead over the group. It was a battle to the end, but Seth pushed on to victory. More importantly, they each got to spend time with their family members

Pedicabs on The Apprentice

filed under: Press Releases — Pedicab @ 10:02 pm March 11th, 2004

Main Street Pedicabs were used for the March 11, 2004 episode of NBC’s hit TV show, The Apprentice. Episode 10 – “Wheeling and Dealing” – the remaining members of “Versacorp” and “Protégé” teams compete against each other by operating a pedicab (rickshaw) service in NYC. When the two teams met with Donald in the boardroom, George and Carolyn laid out the numbers. Versacorp had a total profit of $3,680 while Protégé had a profit of just over $382. Even the always cool Trump seemed to do a double-take. The lopsided victory was the direct result of selling advertising.

Axe Body Spray Uses Pedicabs for National College Campus Tour

filed under: Press Releases — Pedicab @ 10:00 pm January 15th, 2004

Axe, the men’s bodyspray, put together a clever college campus campaign that launched simultaneously nationwide, visiting in total 15 campuses during the famous ’04 Axe roadtrip. The East Coast division, coached by Manhattan Rickshaw, included wrapping three pedicabs in shiny black vinyl, overlayed with stylish, sharply contrasting decals, and transporting them to Penn State, Ohio State and the University of Michigan to coincide with important college football games. Each pedicab driver sported an attractive Axe black fleece jacket and carried a sound-equipped backpack playing famous soul hits by Marvin Gaye and Barry White. These Axe cabs circled college campuses giving away rides to Axe-friendly passengers.

In addition, this year’s clothing sponsor of the Festival was Eddie Bauer with its Explore Your Environment campaign. “Eddie Bauer is a brand with strong links to the outdoors and it’s our goal to encourage all people to get outside and enjoy nature,” said Fabian Mansson, CEO of Eddie Bauer, in a statement. And that commitment was demonstrated in the sponsorship of a fleet of wrapped Eddie Bauer khaki and denim-themed pedicabs providing complementary service to Festival attendees at venues around town.
